What this site is built to, the one trade-off we made on purpose, and how to tell us when a page gets in your way.

The standard this site is built to
This site is built against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We call that the standard we work to, not a certification, because no independent audit has been carried out and claiming otherwise would be a credential we cannot evidence.

What is actually done
Colour pairings on this site are measured rather than judged by eye, and the measurements are recorded in the stylesheet itself: body text runs at 15.1:1 against the page background, well past the 4.5:1 the guidelines require. Pages work from the keyboard alone with a visible focus ring, images carry alt text, headings run in order so a screen reader can move through a page by structure, and every animation is switched off automatically when a device asks for reduced motion.

One deliberate trade-off
White text on our amber fills measures 3.19:1. That clears AA for large bold type and does not clear it for small body text, so amber fills are only ever used behind short, bold, uppercase labels — never behind a paragraph. This was a considered decision made with the client rather than an oversight, and it is written up in the stylesheet next to the measurement.

Known limits
The map in the footer is a Google Maps embed and we do not control what it hands to assistive technology. The address, the hours, the phone number and a directions link all appear as text in the card beside it, so nothing is reachable only through the map.
