History
Long Branch has been a coastal resort since the 1780s, and by the Gilded Age it was hosting three U.S. presidents as summer visitors. That history means a real mix of building stock along the coast — grand old seaside houses subdivided or renovated over a century and a half, standing next to newer construction — so the electrical and plumbing behind the walls varies block to block more than in a town built out in one era.
