Neighbourhood
Howell is the largest municipality in Monmouth County by land area — about 61 square miles — created from Shrewsbury Township in 1801 and itself later split to form Wall Township. What is left today is a large, mostly suburban and semi-rural township built around older settlement areas like Squankum and Ramtown that have since become residential neighbourhoods.
