Quick answer

What does plumbing cover?

We handle residential plumbing repairs across Oakhurst and the Township of Ocean — leaks, taps, toilets, water heaters, waste blockages and sump pumps. Estimates are free. Anything requiring a licensed master plumber, such as a gas line, we refer out rather than take on.

— Overview

How this job usually goes

Plumbing repair splits cleanly into two piles. One pile is wet right now and needs stopping. The other has been dripping for six months and is quietly adding to a water bill. Both are worth a call, but only one of them is worth a call tonight — and we will tell you which pile yours is in when you describe it.

What we check first

  • We isolate the supply and read the meter before quoting — a passing toilet flapper is the most common silent water-bill driver.
  • Copper, PEX and galvanised all fail differently; knowing which you have changes whether the repair is a fitting swap or an access opening.
  • Gas lines are referred out. If the job touches gas, we say so on the first call rather than halfway through.

What this service includes

  • Leak tracing and pipe repair
  • Tap, mixer and shower valve replacement
  • Toilet repair, reseating and replacement
  • Water heater diagnosis and replacement
  • Waste and drain unblocking
  • Sump pump replacement and testing
  • Isolation valve replacement
  • Outside tap and hose bib repair

Signs this is the job you need

  • 01A tap that drips after the handle is fully closed
  • 02A toilet that refills itself without being flushed
  • 03Water pressure that dropped at one outlet only
  • 04A patch of damp on a ceiling below a bathroom
  • 05The water meter still turning with everything shut off

Locally

Why this comes up here

Much of the Township of Ocean sits near Deal Lake and inside the 100-year flood plain, which means basement plumbing, sump pumps and drainage checks come up more often here than inland. Senior housing communities in Oakhurst also mean accessibility-adjacent plumbing — comfort-height toilets, lever taps and grab-rail blocking — is a regular part of the work.

Plumbing FAQs

The questions that come up most on plumbing calls. If yours is not here, ask on the phone —(908) 332-0202.

Browse all FAQs
Do you do emergency plumbing at night?

No — we work standard hours. If water is actively coming into the house and cannot be isolated, you want a 24-hour emergency plumber, and we would rather say that than have you wait until morning. Shut the main stopcock first either way.

Can you replace a water heater in Ocean Township?

Yes, and the Township wants a permit for it. A replacement changes the appliance and its connections, which puts it inside the construction permit requirement rather than outside it. We handle the filing as part of the job.

Why does my water bill keep climbing?

Usually a toilet flapper passing water continuously — it is silent and it is the single most common cause. Shut every outlet in the house and watch the meter. If it is still moving, something is passing.

5 out of 5 on our Google Business Profile

  • The first job Multi-Skilled Handyman did for me was to replace our tiny mail box with a bulky secure mailbox in our already built brick post. The outcome was fabulous. It looks like the wall and mailbox were built at the same time. Since then, Multi-Skilled Handyman has come over every six weeks. Each time, I simply hand over our Honey Do list and know with great confidence that everything will be done to amazing perfection.

  • Multi-Skilled Handyman is totally awesome and definitely an honest handyman! He came recommended to us and we called to have him look at the pergola over our patio to maybe replace some of the wood. He said that it wouldn’t be worth it for us to do now, that we should just wait and replace the whole thing. We were impressed with his honesty.

  • Great communication from Multi-Skilled Handyman! Very easy to work with and coordinate scheduling. Multi-Skilled worked really hard, cleaned up each day before he left, and did quality work. We had carpeting removed on the third floor, sub floor repaired, and a new laminate floor installed.

  • Multi-Skilled Handyman installed two porch railings for me. Very amiable and responsive reception by Multi-Skilled. Mike could not have been more responsible and knowledgeable in installing the railings. Will ask them again to help out when I need trustworthy individuals in my home. Thank you!
